You will need:
- The Sea and Me Mermaid Dolls Panel
- Fibre fill
- 30” – ¼”-⅜” wide elastic
- Pinking shears (optional)
- General sewing notions: sewing machine, scissors, thread, pins, etc.
Seam allowances ¼” unless stated otherwise.
Dolls
1) Cut A & B, C & D and E & F out on dotted line.
2) Pin A and B right sides facing together.
3) Sew ¼” around doll leaving enough room on the side to turn right side out.

4) Cut excess fabric and clip corners to eliminate bulk.
5) Turn doll right side out and press with iron.

6) Stuff legs and arms with fibre fill. Sew across where they meet the body so the doll can sit.

7) Stuff the rest of the doll and hand sew the opening with a ladder stitch.
8) Repeat steps 2-7 for C & D and E & F.
Tail and Belt (using elastic only)
1) Cut G & H, I & J, and K & L on dotted line.
2) Pin G & H right sides together.

3) Sew ¼” around half of the tail from the waist and stop at the tip of the tail. Press seam open at the top for about 1 ½”.

4) Press ¼” of the top of the tail to the wrong side, then fold over another inch and press. Sew down close to folded edge.

5) Trim seam allowances with pinking shears (optional) and fold tail right sides together again.
6) Continue sewing the rest of the tail, stopping at the stitch line where you made the channel.

7) Turn right side out and press. Stuff with fabric or tailor’s ham to make pressing the seam easier.
8) Repeat steps 2-7 for pieces H & I and J & K.
9) Cut piece of elastic 10” long for each tail.
10) Attach safety pin to one end of the elastic and feed through the channel until both ends are visible.

11) Sew across the elastic, trim one side and secure the longer end of the excess elastic down again.
12) Fold one side of the opening under and feed remaining raw edge inside. Top stitch in place through all layers.
